The MDI mini implant system holds the removable denture (made to the entirely toothless jawbone) steady. The system consists literally miniature ball retention screws, that are screwed into the bone without a major surgery. We drill the top of the bone guided through the gum (in anaesthesia) and using the corresponding tools we drive in the screw into its place. On the upper jawbone about 6 miniature implants can provide adequate anchorage to the prosthesis. With a prosthesis stabilized this way, the one’s quality of life can be increased, they can smile and eat freely. Through the approximately 6-8 weeks healing time the patient can wear his old prosthesis (if he had one before) after having a few minor modifications done on it. The telescope crowns are hidden fastenings as well. Telescopic denture can be made if there are only 1-3 remaining teeth on the jawbone and they are so stable that it’s unnecessary to remove them but they are not enough to have a hidden anchorage partial denture installed on them – in this case the telescopic system can function well. The easiest way to imagine the telescopic system is to compare them with Matryoshka dolls with only two dolls – a smaller and a larger. The smaller one supposed to be the primary telescopic crown which is glued onto the stump and the secondary telescopic crown clicks onto the primary one (with high friction), representing the higher doll. The main difference between these partial dentures and the ones with acrylic baseplate is that the baseplate of these ones is cast metal. This is a very thin metal sheet which is hard to break, it has no aging effect (not like plastic), easy to keep it clean, thus it will not smell. It is not sensitive to the effects of chewing forces, so it may be advisable to those with powerful masticatory muscle. The anchorage is also cast metal built together with the metal baseplate. These clips are strong, they don’t bend and hard to break. The disadvantage of these dentures is if they are placed in the frontal area, they are visible, in this case they are not recommended.
